About Susanna Reay

Susanna Reay has been an artist and designer all her life. After attending Maidenhead School of Art she went on to study Textile Design at Manchester University. Susanna worked for ten years as a professional designer in the textile industry, then due to international relocation, decided to freelance with her art and design skills. Susanna has created art pieces with many different medias over the years, from photography through to theatrical design. Her most recent pieces combine her life long love of textiles with sculptural forms, which are achieved by the discovery of a liquid textile hardening medium called Powertex. Susanna became a certified tutor for PowertexUK in 2016 to help others discover the endless possibilities that this product presents.

Powertex

Powertex is an environmentally friendly, non-toxic, water-based and weather resistant liquid sculpting medium. Powertex is used for making sculptures, paintings, decorative objects and jewellery.

An apron and gloves will be provided and it is possible to work cleanly with Powertex. However, please wear old clothes as Powertex is a fabric hardener and stain by design so is very difficult to remove from clothing.

Susanna Reay is a Certified UK Powertex tutor and can also supply you with Powertex products for your own creativity sessions after attending an initial tutorial.

If there is a particular project you would like to do with your friends on a creativity date, please send me a note saying what you are thinking of and with how many people and I can send you through ideas along with how long it would take to make.

Bespoke Creativity Dates

Where are creativity dates held?

Bespoke Creativity Dates are at a location of your choice, normally in your home around your dining room table. Numbers will depend upon the space available, a standard home bespoke creativity date will have 5 attendees. We will set up at your dining room table (I provide a protective cover for the table top), so it depends on how big your dining table is, as to how many people you can host.

I am based in Henley-on-Thames, South Oxfordshire and generally work within the Thames Valley, no more than 30 minutes drive. If further, travel expenses will be included in your quotation.

How long are the creativity dates?

A half day afternoon or evening date is 2.5 hours long. Full day projects can be run in one day, or over 2 different half days.

As a bonus for picking a larger full day project, you may also choose an additional product to work on at the same time – a brooch or bottle decor (agreed on before the day).

How much is a bespoke creativity date?

For a single session creativity date, prices start at £45 per person, with a minimum of 3 people required to attend. Costs may vary dependant on the complexity of the project. Additional attendees will be charged per person, prices available on request once the project is chosen.  All prices will be confirmed before booking.

All bookings must be paid in full at the time of booking. It may be possible to transfer your booking to a new date without loss of money, please contact Susanna as soon as you feel this may be required.  Cancellations 4 weeks before the date will be refunded in full. Cancellations under 4 weeks will receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be given if you cancel in the week before the date.
