Musical quotes to inspire you in your business
As a life-long fan of musicals, I thought I'd round up 2021 with my top 10 musical quotes for introverts in business. I explain why each quote resonated for me.
1. “There’s a million things I haven’t done, but just you wait.” - Hamilton
Oh, we are all so multi-passionate and have a million things swirling around inside our heads that have yet to be done.
The secret of course is to actually take action and bring these out of your head and test the ideas, before they are perfect. We iterate to success.
But don't wait too long! See Quote 9 for why!
2. “When the world turns upside down, the best thing to do is turn right along with it.” Mary Poppins
Mary Poppins was the first musical that I learnt all the words to off by heart. Including saying supercalifragilisticexpialidocous backwards!
Mary Poppins Returns did not disappoint with a new batch of great songs, and one of my favourite scenes was when Mary visited her cousin whose world "turned turtles" every second Wednesday of the month.
If ever there has been a year (or years) where we've had to be adaptable to the world turning upside down as business owners, its been 2020-21.
Luckily online business models are flourishing, and a great way to create a sustainable and profitable business.
3. “Scratch that this is not a moment, it's the movement.” Hamilton
Hamilton is a feast of amazing quotes, and several have made this list.
This one resonates as I see us introvert entrepreneurs are now creating a movement of awareness, showing our strengths and changing attitudes across life situations.
Workplaces need to be inclusive, business models, marketing and sales techniques all can be adapted to suit the introvert entrepreneur.
The Introvert Way™ has become a MOVEMENT this year. I am honoured to be at the forefront of the change that is happening.
4. “It’s time to trust my instincts, close my eyes and leap!” Wicked
There comes a point in every business where you need to take quietly gutsy action, close your eyes, believe in your value and LEAP.
This will look different to everyone one of us. It may be the smallest of moves, testing a new theory for the first time, or a large investment that you make to propel your business up to the next level.
This last year I have invested heavily in both external support and coaching to develop myself further. These both mean I can serve my clients more fully and create a bigger impact in the world.
5. “Anything you do, let it come from you. Then it will be new. Give us more to see.” Sunday in the Park with George
This quote amplifies the importance of being YOU. There are many people operating in a similar niche to yourself. But no-one else will have the same viewpoint, experience and slant on how to solve the problem that you solve, as you do.
To quote Frank Sinatra as a double whammy here, you need to do it "Your Way"!
Your voice needs to be heard. There are people willing to listen to your wisdom. It's time to step up and share it so you helping others succeed.
6. “Takes a little patience, takes a little time, a little perseverance, and a little uphill climb” Dear Evan Hansen
Growing your own profitable business is not easy. It takes time, perseverance, and a little uphill climb.
But the view from above is worth it.
When we set out to grow out own business, we are going on a huge journey of personal development as well as levelling up skills we never knew we'd need.
The secret is to focus on the next step only, and before you know it you have climbed to the top.
7. “It isn't where I am, it's only where I go from here.” Amelie
Amelie follows on beautifully from Evan... it's about focusing on where we are going.
What are our goals and what is the next step to achieving these? Getting support from someone who has trodden the path before you will speed up the journey no doubt.
Figuring it out on your own is possible, there is so much free advice to be had online, there are golden nuggets everywhere. But it's hard to know which really are gold, or which are fools gold just distracting you from your true path.
Find a guide and trust them to take you where you wish to go.
8. “Courage cannot erase our fear, courage is when we face our fear.” Newsies
Courage is when we face our fear.
Fear never goes away completely, Imposter Syndrome is very real no matter where your business is at right now. We all have doubts and question whether this is the right path.
But we need to face our fears and dig deep into our dreams, the vision we wish to create for others, and let that bring us the courage to take action and try.
Stepping out of our comfort zone, showing up for the first time as an expert can feel scary. But is all my time online (since 2006) I have found an overwhelming feeling of support and love.
Find your people and they will support you.
For those that are the lowlife of the internet, utilise the power you have in two buttons: block and delete!
9. “Opportunity is not a lengthy visitor.” Into the Woods
A slightly ominous musical quote here from Into the Woods, but it reminds us that we cannot wait until things are perfect to proceed.
If you have an idea, you need to grab the opportunity, follow your gut, and move with it.
Only by moving can we course correct.
The biggest struggle all introverts in business suffer from is getting stuck in INACTION. Being scared off an idea because someone else is doing it.
When this happens, revisit Quote 5, and realise that you bring something new to your niche. Work on amplifying what makes you, you. If you need help packaging your expertise to scale online, reach out to me, as this is exactly my zone of genius.
10. “Every day has the potential to be the greatest day of your life.” Hamilton
Each morning you have a choice, you can stay in your bed dreaming, or you can get up and chase your dreams.
Every day has the potential to be the greatest day of your life. You are only every one step away from a connection that will power-up your business and belief to new heights.
I believe everyone has amazing wisdom inside of them that they can share and make a profitable business from. But it's not easy to find the way on your own.
Without my business mentors, I would never have reached the success I have, as I just didn't believe in myself initially, then I got stuck in the weeds for a while, until I found the moment to break free as I stood up to be authentically me. Following my values, supporting others and seeing the excitement of possibilities becoming real.
Running your business is full of highs and lows. I encourage you to celebrate your highs and learn from your lows.
Successful business owners have many failures along the way to success. At the end of the day if you don't start trying ideas, asking people if they will pay you for your services, you will never know how successful you can be.
