This Little Girl Is Me – Inspiring Girls International Campaign October 2021

This Little Girl Is Me was originally an Instagram Post for the Campaign by Inspiring Girls International to inspire the next generation of women - Join in and share your story (details at base).

This little girl grew up in the south of England until she was 4 years old.

Then international adventures and schooling happened as she moved to the USA then Australia and arriving back in the U.K. aged 8. She was always a 'good girl' and enjoyed school… except when new and being bullied, because she had a “weird accent” and being clever. She learned early on to ignore others and forge her own path, not being swayed by peers to do things that weren’t her.

From the age of 14 she was reading psychology texts so understand why she felt different from others and took on the term 'introvert' far earlier than most ... but she took some knocks before realising how her actions needed to change away from cultural norms. It’s why she is so passionate about supporting fellow introverted entrepreneurs now. Introverts just have to do things differently.

She dreamed of having her own creative business surrounded by supportive kind humans. She suffered from panic attacks as pressure grew in A level years and completely flunked her Art A level as a result despite having unconditional offers from top art schools in the area.

This built a resilience and determination to succeed later on,  and during her final year at university she felt a tsunami of overwhelm descend again. So without telling a soul, she went away on holiday for a week to break from the pressure of all around her. Time out restored some balance and she went on to achieve 1st class degree in Textile Design and Design Management, finally closing the door on the exam anxiety that had haunted her.

From then on creativity, travel and business played a major role in her life. She got an MBA (with distinction) while living in France and Switzerland and caring for her first born. She founded her first business as a Design and Marketing Consultant for small female-led businesses in Basel and continued supporting start-ups when she moved to the USA.

She worked hard to balance family, and intellectual pursuits with the need for flexibility in her life.

Several countries and businesses later, she found 'her thing' and is now running a business of her dreams: Coaching fellow introvert entrepreneurs from her home to be themselves and shine online. She wouldn't change a thing.

She discovered the power of connections and reaching out for support.  She has a husband and 2 amazing children that fill her life with joy and are her ongoing cheerleaders.

This little girl is me.
