How to become an authority in your space

How to become an authority in your space? This is often end of the quest for expert business owners - as authority often means the clients are seeking you out, paying your true worth and achieving the transformations they seek.

Even those that have played on their invisibility, like Banksy, to see success have followed these three tenets to become an authority:

1) Stand strong in your opinions - art is for all and street art achieves this

2) Call out what frustrates you - his pieces are often political statements.

3) Be in the conversations - every time a new work is posted in the dead of night, the conversations are happening

Are you following these 3 tenets?

It’s something I covered in depth this week with my Spark Space Mastermind Group, as I encouraged them to ditch the nervousness of speaking up and lean into the rant!

Breakthroughs were had as those usually quiet ones in the room broke their silence and spoke their truth.

Visibility is key to authority building

Even without showing your face you can be highly visible as Banksy has shown.

I will always encourage you to show your face if your business is based around you though - if you are a coach, a trainer, a guide, a mentor, a educator who is facilitating positive change.

As your clients will be working with you - so they need to see you first to grow the connection and trust that you are a good fit for what they want to achieve.

My focus is always helping you on finding your thing, leaning into your already existing expertise and opinions that might be burrowed deep, but we can surface them in ways that feel comfortable and attract your audience.

Building your authority, includes a whole smorgasbord of tactics, many of which are being covered inside of my Authority think tank summit that's happening live online again in November 2025. Last year all the talks focused on how to gain authority, super-fast. This year, we are looking at long-lasting authority.
