The Introvert Way® to Run an Online Business

What is The Introvert Way® to do business online?

This is the first question I get asked at networking events, and mainly by those who are more extroverted in nature. Unsurprisingly, as many extroverted people get so wrapped up in how they do business that they are not aware that others may not do things the same way as they do.

What many people think "introverted" means is shown well in this graphic I saw online (I'm hunting down the originator to credit!)

Being an introvert doesn't mean you are shy or socially awkward, often far from it, but we do tend to tire fast of conversations that do not engage us, or are surface level.

Just yesterday I heard another myth to add to this chart - that introverts don't like to talk.

Simply not true.

Give us a purpose, a focus to discuss, and allow the space to let us talk, then we can talk for hours.

Just not in a noisy crowded room. As that drains our energy faster than anything.

The Introvert Way® starts with focusing on our superpowers of being quiet and listening to others, but then moves into how we run our business lives and setting up our business for success.

Even something as simply titled as "networking" will happen in different ways for introverts.

We prefer small groups that have a quieter ambiance and allow everyone to have a chance to connect, not for 1 minute, but for at least 10 minutes in small groups.

Online networking covers engaging in people's posts to attending networking meetings via Zoom, which exploded in 2020 due to the pandemic. But not every group got the right balance on how to run these for all personalities in the room.

Many introverts, when chatting one on one, after the event will mention how boring an event was because there were just two or three people who dominated the room and conversation. Those will be the extroverts who see an empty space to talk.. and will fill it - as silences make them feel awkward.

Introverts prefer to talk when we have something meaningful to say, or have been asked a question, to which we will give a considered response.

The Introvert Way® Approach

The core need for all introverts is to consider what gives you energy and what takes your energy away.

We have to be careful, focused and strategic in where we take action, for how long and then to evaluate what was successful, and what wasn't.

We need to listen, look and learn.

Luckily as introverts we are especially good at those three points.

Our downsides however are endless research and perfectionism that stops any client getting activities happening. Own this and move past it!

The Introvert Way® to Market

So when it comes to growing your business online The Introvert Way®, it is all about focused action, and every action being taken in the right order.

7 steps to market, The Introvert Way™

  1. Create a clear, concise message that clients resonate with
  2. Define your unique visual framework
  3. Set up offers that serve your clients and your introvert nature
  4. Establish the perfect pricing
  5. Outline your customer pathway
  6. Set intentions for focused onward goals
  7. Engage & Nurture your audience

I am sure if you are running a business already, you will be aware of many of the elements above. but how many do you have in place right now? Are they up to date and relevant to your business as it stands today?

It is normal for a business to evolve with time and as circumstances change. 2020 is a year that will go down in history as a huge period of change for many businesses.

The world had to isolate itself to alleviate the global pandemic which led to businesses moving their offers online for the first time.

Some people took this challenge and ran with it, seeing the biggest growth in their business to date. Others struggled with not just the technology but how to really nurture their audience and grow.

The difference between those that succeeded and those that didn't was done to one thing, and one thing only.

Taking focused action.

Easy to say but a lot harder to do.
